“A Minnesota bill that aims to “prohibit an adjuster or insurer from certain actions relating to motor vehicle repairs and claims,” was recently introduced in the House. The bill, also known as H 2919 also seeks to remove portions of the existing law and has been referred to the House Commerce Committee.
One portion H 2919 aims to remove is the advisory which asks, “Have you selected a repair shop or would you like a referral?” and looks to add the following “An insurer is prohibited from attempting to influence the insured’s or claimant’s choice of repair shop.””

The new bill also contains language that is meant to deter insurance companies from advising of purchasing the least expensive part. In essence, vehicle owners are now getting a fair shake when it comes to auto repair. No more persuasion just to satisfy the bottom line!
