John Townsend from AAA shared his method of removing ice from your windshield with 7 On Your Side. Townsend uses a solution that’s one part rubbing alcohol and two parts water. He pours the solution into a spray bottle and applies it to the windshield.”

According to the field test done by the reporter, apparently they aren’t. Instead, it’s recommended that a solution of 1 part rubbing alcohol and 2 parts water is used to clear ice quickly. What you never want to do is pour hot water on your windshield to melt the ice away. That could seriously compromise the integrity of your windshield resulting in cracking.
