The person had the windshield of their 2016 Acura MDX replaced. The vehicle was equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and the camera on the windshield was not recalibrated after the windshield was replaced.
According to Mitch Becker’s article, “ADAS and Auto Glass: What Shops Need to Know Before Releasing a Vehicle,” here are questions you need answers to:
- Is the vehicle equipped with ADAS?
- Does the vehicle require a recalibration after a windshield R&I or replacement?
- What are the recalibration requirements?
- Do you have the proper equipment?
- Who is responsible?”

Having ADAS integrated into your windshield makes the replacement procedure more complicated. Every manufacturer has their own guidelines for recalibration; there is no one size fits all. If the procedure is done incorrectly, it’s likely that the ADAS won’t work as intended and may actually do more harm than good.
Advantage Auto Glass has experienced technicians able to recalibrate a variety of ADAS systems. If your windshield has this technology call us at 612-343-8984 to set up an appointment. You may also visit our ADAS recalibration page for more information.
