“The Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC) is working to improve the collection of data regarding windshield failures in automobile crashes. There is, unfortunately, a history of anecdotal evidence of windshield failure as a cause or exacerbation of crashes and as the reason for sometimes horrific injuries suffered by the occupants of the vehicle. There is also increasing concern that failure to properly recalibrate the camera that guides the vehicle’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) after windshield replacement could cause additional crashes.
“The Auto Glass Safety Council is working to meet the challenge of developing pilot programs that will assist in the collection of data that will empirically show the impact of faulty windshield installation and recalibration errors in vehicle crashes and the resulting injuries,” said Seth Maiman, AGSC Director of Public Affairs.”

ADAS Recalibration is still a fairly new process. As such, it is important that guidelines are followed to the letter for every windshield manufacturer. Improper or incorrect installation of a windshield with ADAS could lead to serious issues. Although the cost of replacing an ADAS windshield is higher than a standard windshield, that increase is very much justified.
The professionals at Advantage Auto Glass offer expert ADAS recalibration to Twin Cities residents. Call us at 612-343-8984 to set up an appointment or speak to a representative on the matter.
